Manoj Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer, and his spouse, IRS official Shraddha Joshi, have a real-life narrative that portrays their journey through life's hardships. Joshi was born in Almora, Uttarakhand, on March 5, 1979. She was a strong student throughout her schooling, whereas Sharma was a "12th Fail" who finally cleared the UPSC to become an IPS officer. When Uttarakhand was still a part of Uttar Pradesh, she too excelled in her class 12 and placed 13th in the state board examinations.Following her high school graduation, she continued on to Gurukula Kangri in Haridwar to pursue a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.Her parents, who are educators, first wanted her to pursue a career in medicine. Joshi, on the other hand, was employed as a doctor at an Uttarakhand hospital when she realized her true calling was in government service.

Because of Shraddha's passion in Hindi literature, a teacher at a UPSC coaching center in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi, arranged for the two of them to meet. When she discovered that Manoj had passed his preliminary exam without receiving any tutoring, she was even more amazed. The pair fell in love during their training and remained each other's closest supporters throughout; once Sharma was accepted into the Indian Police Service, the couple were married.

In 2005, Shraddha Joshi became the Deputy Collector of Uttarakhand after passing the UPSC test. She did, however, retake the exam in 2007 with her husband's help, and this time she passed; she finally joined the Indian Revenue Service.

Sharma humorously disclosed some aspect of Shraddha's way of life in an interview with Lallantop, saying, "Shraddha's life depends on tea, pahaadi aadmi ko sote samay bhi chai chahiye aur uthte samay bhi."

Joshi disclosed in the same interview how Sharma's environment was quite different from her own. Sharma came from Morena in Madhya Pradesh, which is close to Chambal, a notorious area known for its dacoit-ruled ravines. "I am from Uttarakhand's hills, where there is no gun culture. Conversely, individuals were observed shooting airguns and strolling around with Dunalis throughout our wedding.

She also talked nostalgically about the "Pani Wala Aloo" from their rally-style wedding, to which they had invited 1,500 guests but had nearly 4,000 show up. Sharma recalled an occasion when, in order to make sure there was enough food for everyone, he had shrewdly proposed adding water to the "Aloo" in response to an unexpected influx of guests.

Since 2022, IRS Shraddha Joshi has served as the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation's managing director. She worked as a deputation for four years as the managing director of the Mahila Economic Development Corporation (Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal) in Maharashtra after being nominated to that position in 2018.
